Study Abroad

The Nunn School encourages students to participate in at least one study abroad experience while completing the degree program. The School sponsors summer programs focusing on:

  • Soccer, business, human rights, and democratization in Argentina and Uruguay
  • Experiential learning about the EU and transatlantic relations in six European countries
  • Sustainable development in Japan
  • Non-traditional security challenges in Southeast Asia

Students interested in studying abroad in the fall or spring semesters are welcome to take an expanded curriculum of Ivan Allen College courses at the Georgia Tech-Europe campus in Metz, France. Additionally, the School of Modern Languages and the Office of International Education (OIE) offer study-abroad programs in more than 15 countries.

Application and Information Sessions

Students are encouraged to read the study abroad application instructions carefully and attend study abroad information sessions, organized by OIE, to learn more about study abroad programs and requirements. Dates, times, and locations of study abroad information sessions are available on the OIE website.

Argentina Program

Soccer, Business, Politics, and Global Development in Argentina and Uruguay

Buenos Aires is one of the world’s great cities and a virtual laboratory to study soccer, politics, human rights, democracy, economics, business, and development.  A ten-day comparative experience in fabulous Montevideo, Uruguay complements the program.

European Union Program

Dynamic, Experiential Learning and Engagement with Policymakers

This 10-week, 12-credit study abroad program is designed to give students an in-depth and dynamic introduction to the history of European integration, the institutions and decision-making processes of the EU, current issues and debates, as well as the EU’s developing role as a global actor, and its relationship with the United States. The program includes site visits to all EU Institutions and NATO with trips to six countries: France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Romania, and Germany.

Georgia Tech-Europe, Georgia Tech’s campus in Metz, France, now offers an expanded curriculum of Ivan Allen College courses! Visit the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Tour BMW and Airbus headquarters. Visit WWI and WWII historical sites. Explore Europe independently on three-day weekends. Immerse yourself in the French language and culture. Develop the cultural sensitivity skills and global competencies necessary to succeed in the global marketplace. Become a global citizen!

Japan Summer Program in Sustainable Development

Sustainable Development Immersion at Kobe University, Japan

This 10-week summer program is based at Kobe University, one of Japan’s premier institutions of higher learning. Through field trips, lectures, and cross-disciplinary, cross-cultural problem-based learning, this program equips students with the tools needed to understand the complex issues of sustainable development.
